ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) began hearing of the references filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and PTI senior leader Jahangir Tareen.
Imran Khan submitted his reply and re
jected all accusations mentioned in the reference.
In 2002 it was agreed that the Bani Gala house will be bought for a sum of Rs 43
.5 million. As per the contract, it was decided that the house will bought on installments. In the first installment Rs6
.5 million was paid. The remaining amount was to be paid afte
r selling the London flat, Imran Khan said in the reply.
He further added that there was a danger of contract’s cancellation due to a delay in the remaining payment. Therefore the amount was paid by his first wife Jemima Khan, he said.
He further clarified that Jemimah transferred the money to Pakistan through legal chan
nels; therefore allegations of tax evasions are bas
eless.
Meanwhile, a five-member bench heard the reference for disqualification of PTI leader Jahangir Tareen and the lawyers of both politicians stated that the references filed against their clients are bas
eless.
